I am a visual artist and an art education student at the University of the Philippines. Before the pandemic, I used to be a busy bee, who runs a lot of errands. I worked from one project-based job to another while maintaining my scholarship in art school. I do paintings, sculptures, murals, and any art services. I also do private art tutorials for all ages.
One of the most enjoyable projects that I handled was a themed party — providing set designs for events. The aim is to bring the theme into reality and give lasting wonderful memories to kids.
However, when the pandemic hit the country, I needed to switch from traditional art to digital art. I started learning how to edit videos, do digital painting and learn other editing tools.
I saw an opportunity to grow and to be able to do a lot of things. An opportunity to enhance my skills while being able to grasp the rapid change in technology. I know my life experiences and the skills that I have acquired through the years will be useful. As an introvert, this kind of work fits my own lifestyle. I only need to focus on my client where there is no drama. People are busy, and they focus on helping each other grow, and strive to reach their goals. And one more important thing, being a virtual assistant pays more than the average… If you keep on learning, earning in 6-digits is possible.
Ultimately, I’ve decided to switch to this career path because it is an opportunity to be able to provide services and earn more than enough for my needs, while also being able to do the things that I love.
I was working as a part-time editor and Multimedia Graphic Designer, (a total beginner), when I got hired for this job. Mind you, I was also still attending my online classes as well. At first, I only had an idea but I cannot fully understand the real deal of being a Virtual Assistant. I have no experience and this is my first regular job. What fascinates me about the company is its support system. This is a great opportunity that does not require titles, backers, educational background, or age limit. As long as you can pass the training, work hard for it, be willing to learn, and provide services to your client, then this could also be the right fit for you. I remember the words that I told Ms. Mika after the orientation —TVH has a powerful support system.
“I love the idea that everything will depend on us if we want to pass and get hired, together with your support system, thank you.”
I have met a lot of challenges as I was training, balancing my studies, doing part-time work and managing my personal life. ”
One of the most memorable days in my TVH Journey was the day that I am at my lowest phase and I have too much on my plate. I cannot focus and I thought that would be the end of my journey, but it was also the day that I got hired by my first client. I am forever grateful for my trainers who helped me out that day.
Now, I am happy working with 3 clients in different states. I am growing and learning every day with these business people. Working with them for a few months made me learn a lot of tools and acquire more skills. Another thing that excites me about working with my clients is that I would have a chance to expose myself to different cultures and different people who have exciting stories to tell. I am grateful to be their VA and my goal is to keep on acquiring knowledge to be able to provide better service to them.
Everything is worth it — that’s how I describe my TVH Journey.
Hmm, first I would like to say thank you for fulfilling my dream of becoming one of the housemates ni Kuya (kahit virtual haha).
I would be able to finally do the things that I love. I am a workaholic person and time is very important to me, but I always make sure that I can have enough sleep. I cook my own food and run to stay healthy. I love nature and live sketches or Plein air. I enjoy streaming games online after work and on weekends, they are my kind of social life. I am happy to be working alone while being able to spoil my cat with treats, my family and myself by tasting different kinds of coffee.
One of the best TVH moments for me is winning the unboxing challenge because I was able to donate a portion of the prize to pay off the hospital bills of my friend who is in need. I was also ecstatic when I won the giveaway prizes to better enhance my streaming page.
I believe that blessings in life are always meant to be shared.
Just after a few months of working with TVH, I was able to do upgrades in my working spaces, equipment, and tools that help me provide better services to my clients. I focus on investments, I am starting to invest in profitable lands and I’m able to indulge in my passion which is art.
I will continue painting and will do art exhibitions. If you are an artist you know what I mean, being able to have the materials and tools to create a wonderful masterpiece is such a heaven for us. Before, I always prioritize the materials that I need for projects but now, buying what I want is even more possible. I am happy to see my income figures grow. Right now, there are more exciting plans that I have to look forward to in the future. I am excited to turn my visions into reality. Thanks to The VA Hub for making it possible.
When you earn more than enough for your needs, you will have room for your dreams.
The word grateful is not enough to express how thankful I am to be part of The VA Hub. Strict but kind, they push me beyond my limitations and bring out the best in me. I overcame a lot of fears and I am able to improve on my weaknesses. From the head of the company down to all departments, they are all amazing and supportive people. Thank you for providing me with a healthy and peaceful working space.
How funny it is that my work is my SAFE SPACE.
One of the reasons why I do freelance and project-based jobs for years is because I don’t want to just work, pay bills and die. At the very least, I should have time for the things that I love.
One thing I have learned from my mentors in the past is that, if you are going to work hard, make sure it is worth it. Life is hard and full of challenges, life is short which is why you should always choose your battles. You will doubt yourself a lot of times, but in the end, always choose to believe in yourself.
