You are one of the growing numbers of people, not only in the Philippines but also worldwide, who are working
remotely. You started from zero knowledge on how to work-from-home since you came from the corporate world, and you did your best to acquire the skills needed to get hired.
Luckily, you just got hired as a Virtual Assistant! Congratulations! So now, you’re determined to stay on top of your task and be the perfect employee your boss envisioned you to be.
Don’t fret; I will share with you some things your boss expects you to know:
- Be on time– Since you’re working remotely, there’s very little to zero chance of getting late at all. Of course, your boss will expect you to always be on time daily. Not only that, but they will also expect you to be on time for daily meetings or project deadlines.
- Have the courage to tell the problem– Your boss would likely want you to say to him problems at work instead of you keeping it to yourself, but he would expect that you have a ready solution to that problem as well. He wouldn’t want you to be scared of blurting out the problem and being blamed for it. This type of open communication will strengthen your working relationship in the long run.
- Take the initiative– Your boss will surely be impressed by you taking the initiative on whatever needs to be improved on in his business. It’s not always just finishing your task on time or consistently hitting your targets. Going the extra mile shows how valuable you are to the company.
- Communicate effectively– During your interview, your boss would’ve most likely assessed your oral communication skills already. Since you’ll be working remotely, good verbal and written communication skills are basic things he expects you to have. He’s expecting you to communicate your ideas to him and his internal and external partners as well.
- Work well with others– If there are more people in the organization aside from you and your boss, chances are your boss expects you to be a team player. He would want you to work well with others as it fosters a healthy working relationship, which, in turn, boosts business performance as well.
You’ll surely impress your boss in no time once he sees these things in you.
