People are now beginning to notice the world of virtual assistance. Even before the global pandemic, this is an industry that people have come to know.
As most individuals would now prefer to stay home for safety reasons and companies closing, the unemployment rate has increased dominantly.
So what is a virtual assistant anyway? How can one work as an assistant in The Philippines even when he/she doesn’t have the experience required? We’ll be discussing those below.
DEFINITION & TYPES OF VIRTUAL ASSISTANTS
A Virtual Assistant (VA) is a highly-skilled professional who remotely provides administrative, technical, and/or creative business support services.
There are different types of Virtual Assistants. You will need a different skill set for each. Here are some of the examples of a VA. :
- General Virtual Assistant – A general virtual assistant, also known as GVA, basically does the same work as a Personal Assistant, Secretary, and Office Administrator all in one. The only difference is they deliver work online.
- Lead Generation Virtual Assistant – A virtual assistant who takes care of building and maintaining databases of clients’ leads in whatever sectors they wish to target.
- Marketing Virtual Assistant – A virtual assistant who does social media management, creating and promoting digital & direct marketing materials, photo & video editing, does website and blog management.
- ECommerce Virtual Assistant -An ECommerce Virtual Assistant (VA) is a person who provides your e-commerce business with support from a remote location. They can be employed full-time, part-time, or on a temp job by job contract. i.e., E-Bay, Shopify, Amazon.
- Real Estate Virtual Assistant – He/she is responsible for finding property details, data entry & management, cold calling, and lead generation activities.
- Project Management Virtual Assistant – A project management virtual assistant will have the focal point of managing client projects and act as the point of contact between the clients and the team.

FINAL TIPS
While it is great to apply to as many companies as possible, you still have to decide where you wish to be acquainted. Find out about the company’s culture, values, and goals. Patiently wait for your interview and job offer. Always do your research and be punctual on your interview invites. During training, be disciplined and persistent. It’s not a comfortable journey to become a virtual assistant without experience, but it’s possible.
